The Champions League can be run on any ‘knock out round’ style game such as a pool competition, ping pong challenge, table tennis challenge etc. Any weekly run knock out round can host a “Champions League” which allows the winners from the weekly round to compete. The Champions League will allow you to increase exposure to your weekly run promotion and create light hearted bantered between your regular customers, thereby creating a loyalty to your weekly promotion and venue.

  • The promotional rules and regulations will be as per your weekly setup. The only details that will change will be the conditions of entry which is limited to the weekly winner and runner up. I.e Challengers must be ‘invited’ to play - After the knock out round is complete, the Winner and Runner up will be issued their prizes with the winner’s photo being added to the Champions League Hall of Fame

  • This is a good promotion to involve your sporting sponsors and staff
  • Create as much theatre in the bar as possible - prominently display the Hall of Fame board and announce the challenge and winners over the PA between every round
  • Have a local, well connected host to run your comp to ensure a lively atmosphere. This host should also be able to promote the competition through the work, sporting and friend networks to increase the number of players weekly.
  • Use the opportunity of the host chatting to players to promote at least one other hotel promotion per week.
  • Use the Champions League event as a database building exercise by taking down all winners’ details weekly to communicate the Champions League event details.
  • Generate an much hype surrounding your champions league event by creating banter amongst locals, encouraging challengers to bring their friends down to cheer them on and getting your sporting sponsors and staff to enter the challenge.
  • You may want to consider a ‘mystery challenger’ - invite a community figure down to play in the champions’ league to raise the profile and get people talking.
