OVERVIEW OF THE PROMOTION:

Halloween falls on Friday 31st 2014. The day provides a great opportunity to offer your patrons something out of the norm which will create interest and could increase your patronage if executed well.

For family venues, you may wish to promote your venue as a safe, fun alternative to parents who do not want to take their kids trick or treating. For entertainment venues, this presents an opportunity to create a themed event.

SUGGESTED ACTIVITY TO CONSIDER:

KIDS HALLOWEEN PARTY:
DETAILS: Kids activities are a great way to engage families by creating a family friendly event which in turn can encourage food and beverage sales.

Consider any of the following activities;

  • Halloween ‘Colouring-in’ competition; Purchase any kids meal to receive a ‘Halloween’ colouring in stencil. This will need to be designed prior to the day so please speak with KS if you would like to consider this option. You will need to ensure you have colouring in materials (pencils etc). If you need to purchase these, please include purchase costs in your A&M proposal. You may wish to run this a few weeks before the day and draw the competition in the afternoon of Halloween.
  • Lolly Bags; create small lolly bags to be handed out all children on the day of Halloween. Perhaps offer this as a free option with every purchase of a kid’s meal, or to every kid in costume.
  • Kids Halloween Party; For family venues, you may wish to host a late-afternoon kids party in conjunction with a local kids entertainer/magician. You would promote this party as a safe, controlled alternative to tick-or-treating, where parents can enjoy each other’s company and have the kid’s entertained. (Suggested venue is Tacking Point Tavern).

Be mindful with any larger activities and their timings as to the benefits to revenue generation.

In your A&M proposal include:

  • Proposed time of activities.
  • Any additional costs that may be required to hold the activity.

COST TO A&M: Dependent on your selected activity. Please source local quotes for any external hire requirements prior to submitting your A&M proposal.

HALLOWEEN KIDS DESSERT SPECIAL:
DETAILS: Halloween-themed dessert offered with the purchase of any kids meal can encourage Food trade.

Consider one of the following options;

  • Spiders (Lemonade, Raspberry Cordial and Vanilla Ice- cream)
  • Ghoulish Cupcakes
  • Halloween Sundaes

Consider running this activity for a full week.

COST TO A&M: Dependent on your offer. Bistro Specials may include a cost to your promo food account – please ensure this is in line with your A&M budget prior to submitting your A&M Proposal.

HALLOWEEN PARTY – FOR ADULTS:
DETAILS:You may wish to host a created event based on the Halloween theme. Consider your choice of date – it may be best to hold the event on the weekend as opposed to the actual day of Halloween.

Consider:

  • Prizes for best –dressed
  • Themeing/Decorations:
    • Staff in Halloween costumes
    • Cobwebs, snakes, skulls and spiders adorning the bar
    • Black lights
    • Jack-o’-lanterns
  • Facepainters
  • Performers (above and beyond a DJ)
  • Consder working with a supplier for promotional support – Southern Comfort is suggested, in line with the launch of their November promotion.

  • Port Macquarie Hotel
  • The Lost City

In your A&M proposal include:

  • Proposed time of activities.
  • Any additional costs that may be required to hold the activity.

COST TO A&M: Dependent on your activity – if the overall spend is over $800, you will be require to submit an ROI for the event.

INSTAGRAM CONTEST:
DETAILS: You can build your followers on Instagram by offering each person a free face paint when they simply follow @portmacquariehotel.

REQUIRED IN YOUR A&M PROPOSAL:
  • Each individual activity you wish to run including the day you will be running this, times and cost to A&M. You will also be able to provide any additional comments around the activity in the A&M Proposal sheet.
  • Any existing daily What’s ON activity should also be included in your A&M Proposal as ‘proposed activity’. Simply note that this is existing activity and there is no additional cost to A&M
  • Proposed Marketing Activity
  • Any additional activity you may wish to include outside of the suggested mechanics.

USEFUL TIPS:

  • Be well planned with your Activities

  • Ensure all staff are actively selling the weekend to the target market

  • For kids activities, ensure you are engaging all local community groups to assist with viral marketing; this may include, local schools, child care centers, mums groups, sporting sponsors etc

  • Utilise promotional activity in the lead up to Halloween to assist in promoting your activity (e.g. colouring-in competitions).

  • For venues holding a kids party, make sure you are contacting local Mother’s groups, primary schools, sporting sponsors & daycare centre.
